MSNBC Host Melissa Harris-Perry Says Your Kids Are Not Yours, but Belong to “Whole Communities”
Melissa Harris-Perry is an author, television host and political commentator with a focus on African-American politics. She is a professor of political science at Tulane University. Prior to that, she was an associate professor of politics and African-American studies at Princeton University from 2006 to 2010 and taught political science at the University of Chicago from 1999 to 2005.
She says: “Your kid is yours and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion that these are our children, so part of it is that we need to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility and not just the household’s, we start making better investments.”
Sure. If children are raised by the state, it will be much easier to indoctrinate them. Is this really what America wants?
Melissa Harris-Perry is regurgitating the Obama “you didn’t build that” meme.
