Physicist Vic Stenger & the Science, Religion Divide (Podcast)
In his new book, God and the Folly of Faith: The Incompatibility of Religion and Science, physicist Victor Stenger presents historical, philosophical and scientific reasons why the two aren’t compatible. Stenger is a retired elementary particle physicist and author of eleven books, including the 2007 New York Times bestseller God: The Failed Hypothesis, How Science Shows That God Does Not Exist. After discussing early Greek thought, Arabic science and other historical events, Stenger considers modern scientific philosophy. He also discusses the fallacy of the fine-tuning argument and the bad science used by Intelligent Design proponents. For more information and a complete list of Stenger’s books, see his web page here.

The Debate – Part 2
Is the Universe fine-tuned for humanity, made for us in finite time? See Stenger’s book, “The Fallacy of Fine-Tuning”
Victor J. Stenger 1: THERE ARE MANY UNIVERSES OUT THERE
Victor J. Stenger 2: THE UNIVERSE IS LIKELY ETERNAL
Victor J. Stenger 3: EARTH IS AN UNDERPRIVILEDGED PLANET
Wasted time: our Universe is 13.7 billion years old. Modern humans have been around only 150,000-200,000 years.
Wasted matter: Most of the Universe is not atomic matter.
Dark matter–that we don’t know source of yet–is 24% of Universe.
Dark energy is 74% of Universe, has repulsive gravity causing accelerating expansion of the Universe.
Wasted energy–just from the Sun. Most of Universe is random motion. Most of the Universe is random stuff at 3° K.
The Earth is a tiny pocket of beauty & complexity we happened to evolve on. The Earth is an underprivileged planet, not well suited for human life, being mostly ocean & the thin layer we live on. Atmosphere does not block out UV light.
